"A love 4 the Game: How My Passion For Golf has developed over the years"

It's hard to say if I've always loved the game of golf; maybe it's been a love-hate relationship. We all know it's a frustrating sport, with many ups and downs. When I was around fifteen, my dad, an active golfer, introduced me to the game. He wanted to share his hobby with me. I remember the day he handed me a 3 wood and said, "Try to hit this." I managed to impress him, but he wasn't completely convinced. However, with practice, I continued to impress and soon discovered an untapped talent. After playing for several months at our local club, people began to notice. I was eventually invited to play on the boys' high school team. I wasn't crazy abut that idea, so they created a girls' golf team for me and other talented players.

Although I wish I could say that I kept up with golf from high school through college, that wasn't the reality. I concluded that golf wasn't trendy enough for a high school girl like me, as I was more focused on enjoying myself. The idea of spending long hours on the golf course in the unfashionable attire available at the time didn't appeal to me. This was during a time when women's golf apparel consisted of unflattering polos and knee-length khakis. After skipping numerous practices, I ended up leaving the team during my senior year!

It took years before I decided to pick up a golf club again. Meeting my husband was the turning point that led me to give it another shot. He was excited to hear that I knew how to play golf and was eager to take me on the course to help me rekindle my skills. He soon realized that I wasn't just there to look good (although that never hurts); I was determined to prove my abilities. He was delighted when I managed to hit a drive down the middle about 250 yards (not my best, but not bad considering the years since I last played). While my iron shots needed some improvement, we worked on it together. Our first visit to the driving range was memorable, and even after more than 10 years of marriage, it remains our favorite date activity. Whether we're playing a round or hitting balls, we're always up for it.

Having played together for years, we introduced our son to the sport when he was just two years old. Since then, he has been dedicated to practicing and improving his skills. At the age of five, he would spend hours on the putting green perfecting his game. Now, at eight years old, he has become a proficient young golfer with a true passion for the game. His talent in reading the greens and helping me with my putting is remarkable. Watching him excel on the course, especially when he birdies a hole, fills my heart with joy. Our golfing family is something I truly cherish!

After discussing my love for golf, this blog aims to inspire women golfers and kids to cultivate a fondness for the game. Whether it's about choosing the appropriate attire, picking the right gear, or engaging in basic exercises to improve your overall experience on the course, we are here to help!
